Mary Ann Beavis is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at St. Thomas More, University of Saskatchewan. Her teaching interests include Biblical and Early Christian Studies, Women and Religion, Women and the Bible, Bible and Film. She has a B.Ed from Manitoba; an M.A. in Religious Studies from Manitoba; an M.A. in Theology from Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. from Cambridge University. Her research interests include New Testament and Early Christianity, Feminist Biblical Interpretation, and Religion and Popular Culture. She is also founder and editor, Journal of Religion and Popular Culture. Dr. Beavis has published numerous refereed articles, book chapters and book reviews. In addition, she has published Mark's Audience: The Literary and Social Context of Mark 4:11-12 (Sheffield: Academic, 1989); and the edited volume The Lost Coin: Parables of Women, Work and Wisdom (New York/London: Continuum, 2002).
