Dr. Michele Desmarais
is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has a  Masters of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of British Columbia, and a PhD in Asian Studies also from U.B.C.

Dr. Desmarais' specialty is Sanskrit and Indian thought. Her graduate research focused on aspects of Hindu and Buddhist psychology, which led to her current work on religion and the brain. Dr. desmarais teaches courses on World Religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Mysticism.

Dr. Desmarais was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She  is Lakota-Métis-Canadian and a member of the Vancouver Métis Association
