Todd Comer, currently on fellowship, is completing a PhD in contemporary
American literature and film at Michigan State University. His
dissertation, At the Limit of Subjectivity:
Ethics, Birth, Love, and the Posthuman,
traces the ethical limits of the subject—its presumption of
beneficence, its diversity—and its metaphysical cousins (community,
city, nation, and Humanism) and argues for a
“postmodern subjectivity” that is essentially communal.
His chapters on Samuel R. Delany's Dhalgren and Joel and Ethan
Coen's The Big Lebowski are to be published by JNT: Journal of
Narrative Theory (Summer 2005) and SubStance (Fall 2005),
respectively. |
