A Journey in Palestine
This is the long version of the Palestine pictures. Here I have tried to present a sequence that is pleasant to peruse like a book or an exhibition, but this set of images is also mounted so that people who need them can have access to many pictures. Some photographs included here have details that are practically invisible on a computer screen though they may print well, and there is some redundancy.
This large essay on Palestine begins at Jericho and most of the first half of the work is made of pictures of The Wilderness, the refugee camps near Jericho, Bedouin with their flocks on the hills, and scenes taken in the fields and near villages, gradually moving into the hill country. There are some images of people, and almost all of the pictures contain at least small figures, but the more culturally specific pictures and the ones with more people are in the second half of this section. If you go straight through this material, it may take an hour before you reach Nablus, Hebron, and especially el Quds (Jerusalem). The pastoral roots of this culture demand that anyone seeking to understand Palestine should first spend time out on the land with shepherds. However, for the sake of people who are in a hurry and are looking for specific images, I have listed several subjects below with links that will take them straight to specific areas.
