ar01 The Citadel
Now we have a series of chapters made of images from the same period as The Afghan Folio, from 1973-8. Here we get more detail about day to day life, more street scenes from a particular time and place, more of the whimsy and weirdness that were characteristically Afghan, and many more portraits.
The first photograph in the first chapter on this web site is an image called Light and Water, the one with the ducks and the back-lit child under the arch. This image was taken from more or less the same location after I turned around and let my eyes adjust to the light. The citadel is visible on the right.
