ah01 In a Teahouse
During the last week of December 2001, just after the fall of the Taliban
and the instillation of the Karzai Administration in Kabul, Michael Semple,
the UNOCHA Regional Coordinating Officer for the Hazarajat, started on a journey
to Balkab District in Jozjan Province. This was just as UN personnel were
returning to the country. There were half a dozen of us in two vehicles.
Michael is in the corner, Peter Medway of UNICEF is in the center, and under
the hanging lantern is Abdul Samad Faiq, Michael's assistant.
