Frank Bramlett, from the Department of English, will be hosting a special book-release event for his most recent publication: Linguistics and the Study of Comics. An edited compilation of scholarly works, the book examines the relationship between cognitive linguistics and the visual elements of comics. Students from Papillion/LaVista's Zoo Academy spent 2011 working with Dr. Alan Kolok and UNO's Aquatic Toxicology Laboratory at the lab's Elkhorn River Research Station. With the official dedication of the station in April, more partnerships like this one are planned for the future. YouTube Video
Mark Hoeger, a filmmaker and UNO instructor, will lead a post-film discussion of Fritz Lang's 'M' on Wednesday, May 16, at the Film Streams' Ruth Sokolof Theater. The discussion is part of the theater's 'Film Steams Noir' series, which is sponsored by Sam Walker, professor emeritus in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. News Release
UNO's Keith Fix, a senior management major and creator of DailyMav.com, was honored with the University of Nebraska Peter Kiewit Student Entrepreneurial Award on Friday, May 11.
